Sister Veronica gives thanks

Nenagh native Sr Veronica Quigley would like to thank everyone who contributed to her Kenya Mission during her recent home visit.

“It is a month since I returned on Mission,” Sr Veronica said. “I wish to express my sincere thanks to the many people from Nenagh and surrounding parishes for your generous response to my request for assistance through the Nenagh Guardian. I am not in position to thank each one of you individually but I want to assure you of my gratitude.

“You have enabled me to buy enough food to maintain our students until holiday time in December. You have also assisted me in clearing fees for a number of our very vulnerable students, which in turn assists me in having enough for staff salaries until December.

“May God reward you for your generosity. In our daily prayer in Community, we remember our benefactors, so you are now included there

“Thanks also to the staff member of the Nenagh Guardian for accepting to publish my request. Rest assured, your paper is very well read...

“The good news is that since my return we have had unusually heavy rains in this part of the country, though some areas are completely dry with huge losses of livestock.

“Another request I make of you: Please pray for Kenya: Politically things have become unstable since the President’s re-election was declared null and void by the Supreme Court here. New elections for President are to take place on October 26th. Pray elections may be free and fair without loss of life.”

Sister Veronica Quigley of Knockinglass, Nenagh, has worked as a Missionary in Kenya for the last 30 years.
