Neighbour arrested over tyre-slash

GARDAÍ have arrested a female following a tyre-slashing incident in Newport.
The incident occurred on Monday night of last week. The female, who is understood to be a next-door neighbour of the injured party, is due to appear in court.
Elsewhere, gardaí are investigating the theft of an electric bicycle in a housing estate in Nenagh. The bicycle belonged to an elderly man with mobility issues, who had left it outside his house. The bike was stolen last Tuesday week but was subsequently recovered by gardaí and returned to its owner.
Also in Nenagh, gardaí arrested an individual on suspicion of drink driving at Summerhill last Sunday night. A mandatory alcohol checkpoint was set up on the street as part of ongoing efforts to tackle drink driving.
Gardaí are also investigating the theft of two items of machinery from a farmyard at Boher, Ballina, overnight last Sunday.

A PASSENGER was hospitalised following a crash at Dunkerrin last Monday.
Gardaí attended the scene but the injuries received are believed to be minor.
Gardaí in Roscrea are investigating the theft of two rings valued at €175 from jewllery store in the town last Wednesday.
A car was stolen from Roscrea's Carrig Road last  Thursday. Gardaí in Roscrea are appealing for information about the theft of the vehicle, a grey-coloured Vauxhall Insignia.

Incidents at Nenagh supermarket
NENAGH are investigating two incidents reported at the local Tesco supermarket in recent days.
A member of the public was allegedly barred from the supermarket after becoming abusive to store security and members of the public last Friday.
Also at Tesco, an envelope containing cash was stolen from the self-service area of the supermarket. CCTV footage showed a woman taking the envelope and putting it in her bag. Following a garda investigation, the money has been returned to the injured party.
Meanwhile gardaí attended the scene of a fire on the M7 between Junctions 23  (Moneygall, Cloughjordan) and 24 (Toomevara, Nenagh) last Wednesday. The fire appears to have been started beside the motorway, which was closed for around half an hour while firefighters dealt with the situation.
Gardaí also attended the scene of a fire at a vacant house in Cloughjordan last Thursday. It is possible that the fire was caused by an electrical fault; there is nothing to suggest that it was started maliciously.
Also last Thursday, a man was arrested outside Nenagh Garda Station under the Public Order Act. The man was reportedly shouting and he refused to leave the scene when directed to do so.
