Nenagh band to stream Féile gig

Nenagh band Billy's Cinema will stream their slot at this weekend's 'Féile Beag' festival on Facebook Live.

The novel idea is the latest offering from these talented Nenagh rockers, some of several local musicians performing in Thurles this Saturday and Sunday. In what will be their first live gig, Billy's Cinema will take to the stage at the Source Arts Centre this Sunday, August 6th, at 9pm. Using high-tech equipment and multimedia camera angles for a better sound and look, the lads' 20/25-minute set in Thurles can be enjoyed live on Facebook. BC frontman Martin Twisty O'Brien this week confirmed that their debut performance will also be screened at Philly Ryan's bar in Nenagh as well as at Hickey's in Thurles.

“We think we are the first Irish band to stream on Facebook this way so it's kind of cool to do it,†he said. “Our slot will be available then to everyone no matter where you are in the world. As part of the festival, our slot is going to be on the screens and sound system in Hickey's bar in Thurles and also Philly's in Nenagh at 9pm.â€

Twisty, who sings and plays guitar, will be joined for this gig by John Cummins (vocals, guitars), Dave Spain (drums) and Sam Martin (bass).

Enjoying a Christmas No 1 on iTunes shortly after their formation last year with 'Heartsong', Billy's Cinema are a rock band much in the vein of Foo Fighters, REM and Jimmy Eat World.

The Féile Beag festival rekindles memories of the famous Féile concerts held in Thurles during the 1990s. This year's festival will held at Millea's pub on Saturday and Hickey's on Sunday; among the other acts performing are Tigwara, Seskin Lane and Jester; see the Féile - Trip to Tipp Facebook page for more.
