Daybreak's Friday fundraiser for Heart Foundation

Daybreak's Friday fundraiser for Heart Foundation

Daybreak, Ireland's fastest growing convenience group, will host a national coffee morning on Friday, July 21st, to raise funds for its charity partner Irish Heart, the national charity working to achieve better outcomes for those affected by heart disease and stroke. The fundraising events will run from opening hour until 12:30pm across 200 Daybreak stores nationwide. Customers at Daybreak stores including Newport (Gullys), Nenagh and Cashel, will be invited to make a small donation in return for a cup of tea or coffee with all proceeds going to support the work of Irish Heart.

Daybreak has partnered with Irish Heart as its Charity of the Year since 2016, with €42,000 raised for the charity last year through a wide range of national and local community activities. These funds contributed to Irish Heart's life-enhancing programmes, including CPR training, stroke support groups, and freephone helpline.

Daybreak has further fundraising initiatives planned for the rest of the year to raise much-needed funds for Irish Heart's invaluable work across the country, 92% of which is funded through public donations. With more people now dying from cardiovascular disease than any other cause of death in Ireland, the support Irish Heart provides to those impacted by heart disease or stroke is vitally important.

Speaking about the initiative, Thomas Morrison, Head of Retail Sales, said: “We are very proud to support Irish Heart as the Daybreak Charity of the Year and believe the work it does for families affected by heart-related illness across the country is second to none. Our national coffee morning fundraiser is a great opportunity for staff and local communities throughout Ireland to get behind such a worthwhile cause. We hope as many of our customers as possible can come out on Friday21st July and support their local store in helping raise much needed funds for Irish Heart.â€

Daybreak currently has 200 stores nationwide which are independently owned by local retailers, ensuring that each outlet can respond to the everyday needs of its local community.
