Highly Commended award for Cloughjordan group

At the recent Get Involved competition awards ceremony held in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dublin, the Cloughjordan Community Development Committee received a Highly Commended Award for their entry on the Scohaboy Bog Wetlands Project.

The award is a timely recognition of all the community supported actions undertaken to date in the restoration and conservation of the unique raised bog habitat at Scohaboy. Sponsored in the competition by the Nenagh Guardian, the Wetlands Project at Scohaboy Bog sees the restoration of a unique raised bog habitat and the development of walkways and trails for local and visitor use.

Scohaboy Bog NHA is of considerable conservation significance, representing some of the last remnants of this habitat still in existence in the Atlantic region of the EU and, as such, it is a site of both European and International importance.
