Green light for Tippo rebuild

Tipperary Co Council has granted conditional planning permission for the reconstruction of the fire-damaged Tippo furniture manufacturing facility outside Nenagh.

Tippo International Ltd has been granted permission for a factory reinstatement consisting of two-storey offices and showrooms adjoining the R498 Nenagh-Thurles road, with a single-storey manufacturing plant behind, at Kilconane, Kilkeary.

Upgraded car parking, truck parking, turning and circulation areas, along with signage and landscaping works, form additional aspects of the plan.

The council last week granted planning permission subject to 19 conditions. Among these, the hours of operation of the facility were restricted to 9am to midnight, Monday to Friday, and from 9am to 5pm on Saturdays.

The Tippo factory, which employed around 80 people, was destroyed in a massive fire last October.
