Lecture on Daniel O'Connell's 'monster meeting' in Nenagh

A talk on Daniel O’Connell 'The Liberator' will take place at the New Institute Hall, Nenagh, on Monday April 24th at 8pm.

On April 27th 1843, Daniel O'Connell addressed a meeting at Grange, Nenagh. It was reported that up to 350,000 people attended this monster meeting.

That night, O’Connell was guest of honour at a banquet held at the present day New Institute hall.

To mark this historic occassion, the Board of the New Institute will host a talk on O’Connell and his visit to Nenagh in 1843. This talk will be given by historian and President of Nenagh Ormond Historical Society John Flannery.
