Boats submerged at Garrykennedy

Tipperary Co Council is being asked to contact the owners of a number of boats that are submerged at the Old Harbour in Garrykennedy.

Cllr John Carroll (FF) raised the issue at a recent meeting of the council's Nenagh Municipal District. He said the submerged vessels have greatly reduced capacity for people to moor boats at Garrkennedy and this is a blow to tourism. A minority of people are at fault, and they are “not local”, Cllr Carroll said. The capacity of the berthing area has been reduced by around 70% when it should be increased, he told the meeting.

Director Marcus O'Connor said the council would try to establish ownership of the submerged boats.
