A happy group of participants in this year's Ballycommon Sponsored Ride.

Ballycommon Sponsored Ride raises €60k for charity

The 2017 Ballycommon Sponsored Ride has turned out to be one of the most successful yet with the organisers expecting to raise €60,000 for this year's chosen charity, TLC4CF.

Some 207 riders took part in BSR '17, which was held on Sunday March 19th. A large crowd turned out to watch the many events that were organised on the day. The 'Celebrity Wall' once again proved to be a very popular attraction and it was won this year by Searlait Quinn, representing Reidy's of Newtown.

More than €45,000 has already been collected and the hardworking BSR committee is expecting that it will have around €60,000 to present to cystic fibrosis charity TLC4CF next week. The committee would like to thank everyone who participated in this year's ride, and all of the landowners, sponsors, spectators, and the local community for their support. Thanks also to everyone who donated to Tipperary, Limerick, Clare for CF.

The presentation night will take place this Saturday, April 8th, at The Thatched Cottage in Ballycommon at 9pm. There will be a party in the function room where a marquee will be erected to accommodate the large crowd expected on the night.

Music will be by the sensational Naked Bare, followed by a disco. There will also be finger food, a raffle and an auction on the night. Auction items include: weekends away, golf in Mount Juliet, concert tickets, All Ireland tickets, timber, a day's hunting, leisure centre membership, free nail care for a year, silage/straw/hay, and lots more items to be added. All items will be advertised prior to the auction and a brochure will be available on the night.

There's also a €100 sponsorship draw to look forward to, and revealed on the night will be the secret behind 'The Facebook Window'. Note also that hour-long DVDs of BSR '17 will be available on the night (priced at €10, and Trish O'Shea's commentary is worth the price alone!).

Tickets for the presentation night cost €10. For more information, contact 087-2430546.
