Knock telecommunications structure plan appealed

A plan for a telecommunications structure outside Roscrea has been appealed to An Bord Pleanála.

Tipperary Co Council recently refused a planning application from Three Ireland (Hutchinson) Ltd for the construction of a 27m high telecommunications support structure at Timoney, Knock. It was intended that the structure would carry antennae and transmission dishes. Associated equipment units, security fencing and an access track were also included in the plan.

Receiving several submissions, the council considered that the proposal would create a traffic hazard and pose a visual obtrusion.

Three has since appealed this decision to An Bord Pleanála, which is to make a ruling by July 5th.
