Preparations underway for Roscrea's 39th successive St Patrick's Day parade

Preparations are well underway for Roscrea's 39th successive St Patrick's Day parade.

Steve Crofton told a recent meeting of Roscrea Community Development Council that the parade committee has written to businesspeople in the town. He hoped that the parade would be supported with lots of floats and volunteers to help out with its organisation. Mr Crofton added that a church gate collection in aid of the parade will be held on the weekend of February 18/19th.

Cllr Michael Smith pointed out that some towns have introduced a theme to their parade to help entice crowds. Perhaps this is something that should also be considered in Roscrea, he suggested.
