Local company plans to rebuild after fire

Local company Tippo International Ltd is ready to submit a planning application for the replacement of its manufacturing facility at Kilkeary.

The Tippo factory, where around 80 people were employed, was almost completely destroyed in a devastating fire last October. The company has this week signalled its intention to apply for planning permission for demolition of the remaining part of the fire-damaged factory building and for the construction of a replacement manufacturing facility on the site.

The demolition is to include the removal of all remaining building structures from the site. The reinstatement of the manufacturing facility includes two-storey offices and showrooms adjoining the R498 road, with a single-storey manufacturing plant behind.

New works are to include: Amendment to adjoining lands in the control of Tipperary County Council to the west of the existing entrance; upgrade of the existing wastewater treatment plant and percolation area; surface water attenuation and disposal system; car parking; truck parking, turning and circulation areas; signage; landscaping; boundary treatments; associated site works and services.
