Nenagh street closures for gas and water works

Friar St in Nenagh will be closed to traffic from Monday week to facilitate the next phase of the ongoing gas, water and wastewater works in the town.

Tipperary Co Council has given notice that the period of closure will be from Monday July 18th to Tuesday August 2nd. The purpose of the closure is to facilitate archaeological digs ahead of the works. Diversions will be sign posted and emergency access will be provided, as will access to businesses, residents, and car parks on Friar St.

Meanwhile, Nenagh's main street will be closed to traffic at the height of the tourist season. Pearse St is to be closed next month in two phases: 1) From the mini-roundabout at MacDonagh Street up to and including the mini-roundabout at Kickham Street; 2) From the mini-roundabout at Kickham Street to the Market Cross junction.

The intended period of closure will be from August 15th to October 28th. Traffic diversion routes will be clearly sign posted. Emergency and pedestrian access will be provided at all times. Collection and deliveries will be facilitated.

A specific diversion plan will apply to bus traffic from Kickham Street. Temporary bus stop locations are as follows: Dublin/Limerick routes: Existing Kickham Street bus stop temporarily moved to Nenagh Railway Station; Athlone/Limerick routes: Existing Kickham Street bus stop temporarily moved to O’Rahilly Street (opposite courthouse).
