Musicians seek funding to release album

STRUNG, a contemporary traditional/classical quartet of which Ballina musician Lucia Mac Partlin is a member, are seeking funds to release their debut album.

Based in Cork, Strung are working on the album, with which they aim to subtly integrate complex and innovative harmonies while staying true to the deep-rooted authenticity of traditional Irish melodies.

Initially intending to fund the project themselves, the four students were quickly overwhelmed by the sheer cost of such an undertaking.

“Our aim is to create an album embedded with originality and creativity, while achieving a high production quality throughout. Of course, this comes at no small expense, and this is where you come in!” Strung state on their Kickstarter web page. They hope to release the album next September.

Having already performed in Nenagh, the exciting Strung band features award-winning fiddle player Lucia Mac Partlin. Having previously been a member of the National Youth Orchestra, Lucia is currently studying for her Masters Degree in violin performance under the tuition of RTÉ Vanbrugh String Quartet leader Gregory Ellis.
