Donations being collected in north tipperary to ease plight of refugees

People in North Tipperary now have the opportunity to ease the plight of refugees who are fleeing from conflict in their own countries to mainland Europe.

Following the recent refugee situation a container is being sent from Cork to Calais at the end of September.

The North Tipperary Calais Refugee Solidarity group has been established to collect donations for the refugee camp in Calais, France.

Priority donations are men's clothes, skinny jeans, vests, tops, hoodies, jumpers, socks, waterproof jackets (sizes - small to medium), runners/hiking boots size 7 to 9, men's toiletries, shaving foam, razors, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, moist wipes and packets of tissues. These latter toiletry items can be put into a durable wash bag as a care package or donated separately.

Also needed are three and four-man tents, sleeping bags, air mattresses, blankets, bicycle repair kits, solar or wind-up lights and  strong black refuse sacks.

The Nenagh collection area is beside St Vincent De Paul furniture shop at the back of Kenyon Street car park and is open from Monday 7th September until Friday the 18th of September from 10am to 5pm.

Volunteers are needed to help out sorting donations. The Nenagh contacts are: Margaret Spillane on 087 -7684363 or Fiona Ryan on 086-3343305.
