Frightening accident outside nenagh

The National Roads Authority is being asked to send a road safety officer to Nenagh following a serious crash outside the town.

The recent accident occurred at the Puckane road junction with the N52 at Grange. It is understood that several vehicles were involved and one car ended up on its roof. A number of people were taken to hospital.
Local councillors said the vehicle occupants were lucky to survive the crash.

The accident was discussed at last week's meeting of Nenagh Municipal District Council. Cllr Michael O'Meara (Ind) described the crash as 'frightening'.

A number of proposals were discussed, such as creating a roundabout at the junction, moving signage and putting a filter lane in place. Councillors also spoke of a need to stop people parking their cars outside the meat factory.

The council is asking the NRA to have a road safety officer examine the location, after which traffic calming options can be discussed.
