Works confirmed for st annes killaloe

Local TD Alan Kelly, Minister for the Environment, Community & Local Government has confirmed that construction work on St Anne's Community College in Killaloe is to begin mid to late 2015.

Minister Kelly said: 'In March 2012, I announced funding for the school under the Schools Building Programme.  At the time this local secondary school in Killaloe was operating at near capacity.  It was important to me to make sure that St Anne's was included in any plans for increasing local school capacity. Space at the school had been significantly reduced over the previous few years and hence this project was of vital importance.

'Numbers of students atteding the school continue to grow.  A planning application for the work was submitted prior to Christmas and construction is to begin mid to late 2015.  All works will be completed in approximately 12 months.

'When the work is completed, St Anne's Community College in Killaloe will have state of the art facilities.  The extension will include eight classrooms, a fourth science laboratory, a second home economics room, a second computer room, a new staff room, offices and project stores and other ancillary facilities.  I was delighted to be in a position to get the funding for the school, for the pupils, staff, and parents and general Ballina and Killaloe and surrounding area.  I look forward to the seeing the new extension.

'St Anne's Community College in Killaloe has a bright future'.
