God of carnage in borrisokane

The Borrisokane Players will perform much-lauded play 'God of Carnage' at the Clarke Memorial this week. The performances will be run from Thursday January 15th to Sunday 18th, opening at 8.30pm each night.

If it's true that nothing is funnier than unhappiness then you’re guaranteed to have fun at Borrisokane Players’ production of 'God of Carnage', the Yasmina Reza-written play that has had one of the longest Broadway and West End runs of recent times.
Dermot McDermott plays Alan Reilly, an obnoxious corporate lawyer who willingly admits to having no manners and seems to be about as thoughtful and mature as his eleven year-old savage of a son. Dermot has performed with Borrisokane Players on several previous occasions and is joined this year by a newcomer to the stage, Morgan Haugh, who plays Michael Fallon. Michael is a hardworking businessman, a bit of a rough diamond, but his hard edges have been smoothed down by marriage and children. All the same, you can trust a volcano as much as you want: that won’t stop it exploding on you.
Annette Reilly is played by Irene O’Meara. Annette is a suave, sophisticated wealth management consultant, who appears effortlessly able to juggle home, children and career and still have time left to put up with her husband’s barely tolerable oafishness. But that may be all about to change... Irene has huge experience acting and directing with many different drama groups and regularly acts as an adjudicator for the All-Ireland drama league competitions.
The final member of our dysfunctional quartet is the instigator of the polite get-together that ends up in carnage – Veronica Fallon. Played by Lisa McGeeney, another veteran of drama in the Lower Ormond area and beyond, Veronica seems to float through an idyllic existence of compassionate concern. A bleeding heart liberal Veronica may well be, but might she end up with blood on her hands as well? It’s fairly obvious from the start that Alan and Annette are heading for a showdown: the only question is whether Michael and Veronica might be moving in the same direction...
We'd be especially grateful if people could turn out in force on opening night, Thursday 15th as Borrisokane Players and the Clarke Memorial Hall committee are proud to announce that we’re having a gala night with all proceeds going to Stella FM and Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin.
Stella FM is a community radio station which has been conceived and developed on an entirely voluntary basis by a dedicated team of local enthusiasts. Set up by the community, it will serve to help facilitate the community to tell their own diverse stories, to share knowledge and experience and become active contributors in community media. Broadcasting to a listenership in an area roughly within a ten kilometre radius of Borrisokane will start shortly, so keep that dial tuned to Stella FM. Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin is one of Ireland’s best loved charities and the work they do every day for children and their families is beyond description.
On a final note please be advised that God of Carnage is written as a one act play and will run continuously for approximately ninety minutes. There will be no interval and patrons are asked not to leave the theatre during the performance unless absolutely necessary.
There will be a raffle at the end of the show as usual, with tickets on sale before the performance begins. We would also like to take this opportunity to inform everyone that this production contains occasional strong language and violence, and children under 18 are admitted on the understanding that their parents or guardians are aware of this and have no objections.
