N65 road works scheme deferred

A plan to close the N65 at Portumna Bridge has been deferred until early 2015.
Tipperary Co Council recently advertised the temporay closure of the road to facilitate works at Lehinch, Lorrha. The road was to have been closed from November 3rd to December 31st.
However, the council is not now proceeding with the works in this timeframe and is advising that revised dates will be notified in due course.
Director of Services Marcus O'Connor said there had been concern over closing the busy road in the run-up to Christmas. The works will instead take place early in the New Year, he said.
The scheme involves the installation of footpaths, as well as road resurfacing between Portumna Bridge and the Birr road junction (R489), later continuing up the hill towards Carrigahorig, an overall distance of 2.6km.
