Have your say on future of borrisokane old church

Tipperary Lakeside Development Ltd, together with North Tipperary LEADER Partnership (NTLP) are organising a meeting about the future of the Old Church, Borrisokane as a community space.

The meeting, taking place in the Old Church from 7.30-8.30pm on Wednesday October 15th, will involve an update on the current status of the building and give details about an NTLP training programme for community volunteers.

Tipperary Lakeside Development Ltd, which has managed the historic Old Church in Borrisokane local building for 20 years, is in the process of winding down and is keen that the Old Church be maintained in use for the community.

The meeting, facilitated by NTLP staff, will be an opportunity for local residents to contribute to a discussion on potential uses/options for the space.

Together with Tipperary Lakeside, and Borrisokane Community Forum, North Tipperary LEADER Partnership is also offering a free evening programme to gauge local interest in maintaining the Old Church for community use. Over seven evenings (Wednesdays), the programme will cover all the aspects involved in running a community resource/enterprise centre as well as benefiting volunteers in their own organisations.

At the end of the programme, any interested participants will have the option to become part of a new structure to oversee and manage the Old Church facility for the benefit of Borrisokane and district. Topics include Running a Voluntary Organisation, Managing the Finances, Learning from the experience of the others, and Creating a Business Plan. The course is open to everyone.
