Nenagh to get 10 million investment

Not alone will Nenagh be connected with the natural gas network next year – it has now emerged that the town is to get a major upgrade of its water and sewage systems at the same time.

The ambitious project, estimated to cost €10 million, was revealed this week to The Guardian by the Minister for the Environment, Community and  Local Government Alan Kelly, who said the investment would provide  a massive boost for the town.

The minister said the plan to start laying the gas pipe network from mid-2015, in conjunction with upgrading the town's waste and water networks, was the first multi-utility project of its kind to be tackled in the State.

'Not alone is Nenagh benefiting from  an extension of the gas network from Limerick,  it is now also getting an upgrade of its water and waste systems across the the town. This essentially means that the project amounts to an approximate investment of €10 million,' said the Minister.

He said he had put forward a strong case for doing all the works together as it would provide the  best value for money.
